I’ve been having some great fun with my new lens and have so many photos on my hard-drive that over the next few weeks, I’m going to share them with you in a series I’ve titled “Things you find at the ….”
Thanks for indulging me and I hope you aren’t getting too sick of all my beachy pics
…especially since this post is going to be all that!
As you know, I love the beach, I love the summer and I love the outdoors. I’m trying (at times, very badly) to spend as much time as I can out there, to soak it right up!
And, here are some of the things I have found at the beach in my visits
Whenever I go to the beach with my nieces, we take a bucket each and collect shells. Some of the shells are perfectly shaped, but mostly they are a little cracked and broken. Beautiful, all the same. We bring them home, rinse them off and I have a 30cm-tall glass, cylinder vase that we are going to fill up with all of the collected shells. We have a bit of work to do yet
Hopefully, I will be able to show you a full vase at some stage…
It wouldn’t be a trip to the beach without seeing a sandcastle or few, right?!
At the beach I visited on this day, there was a group of children learning to sail. It reminded me of my “foray” into sailing when I was at school. And, what I remembered was how often we had to change sides of the boat, duck under the beam and watch where we were sitting at all times! I haven’t done it since, so clearly I didn’t enjoy it that much!
A seagull and his reflection
Crystal clear waters, that shimmer in the sun-light.
And, of course, you will also find me at the beach with my thongs
Just chillin’, soaking it all up. It doesn’t happen very often that I have time to actually sit and stare out at the ocean but I love it when I can.
“The cure for anything is salt water – sweat, tears, or the sea.”
–Isak Dinesen
Totally agree with the quote above!

I think I might need to try to find a beach to sit on this weekend …
I think that sounds like a mighty fine idea!
Ah well, it was a good idea in theory … unfortunately The Sparky didn’t get home from work until 9pm on Saturday so the evening bbq and dog walk I had planned did not happen. I will continue to get my calm from your photos instead
Gorgeous photos! I’m not tired of your beach pictures . . . mostly because I know there’s a beach in my future. We’re headed to Jamaica shorty, so I’ll be able to share a few pictures too. What type of lense are you using? I’m so impressed with the quality of your pictures. I just wish you were a little closer so you could pass along a few tips!
Thanks Barb! I use a Nikon 18-200mm AF-S lens, that I am loving at the moment! Just need more time to use it! Oooooh Jamaica sounds awesome! I can’t wait to hear all about it and see all of your lovely pictures! Escaping the cold winter for a bit of warmth?! Hope you have a fabulous time xx
I could never get tired of your beach pics! For me it’s like a holiday escape

Definitely not sick of your beachy pics Ali. I love ‘em, especially as Summer is drawing to an end. Love the seagull and his reflection. More please.
Waw! Beautiful pics of the beach! You have lovely toes too!
x
Haha! Thanks Sophie!
I love the beach, I have not been in ages and I don’t even live that far away from it. The salt water tends to cleanse my soul and my skin. Ok, I might try to get there for a Sunday morning swim. Thanks for the inspiration.
Enjoy your swim! I love the beach but I also find it quite hard to get there as much as I’d like!
Ali, beautiful photos and where I plan to be soon!
I love your writing. And I love the sailing school story. When my son was small he went to sailing school too. So cute. And my son didn’t enjoy either.., too funny!! (He is 22 now) I love the quote and agree with it too! Looks relaxing
Yay! Enjoy your break at the beach! Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time!
Thank you!
My wife really loves shells! And we both enjoy time at the beach, so bring on all the beach pictures you want! Really fun – thanks.
Thank you! I have a feeling this post won’t be the last of the beach pics!
You have no idea how comforting these pictures are right now…everywhere I see, it’s snow. Sea is definitely a sight I wholeheartedly welcome. Love the shimmering wave pic.
Thank you
I like that picture too! Hope the snow starts melting soon, and you get some spring weather x
