This week I received a Kreativ Blogging Award from fellow blogger Lilly Sue at ‘Bites and Brews!’ This is my first blogging award and it was such a wonderful thing to wake up to on Sunday! I’d never thought much about the various blogging awards I’d seen around the place, probably mostly because I’d never received one. I will tell you now, though, it made me feel pretty special! …so Thank you Lilly Sue
If you haven’t found Lilly Sue yet, check out her blog here. She’s lovely and she blogs about Beer (all sorts of beer!) and Food, among other things
The rules of the award are:
Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
List seven random things about yourself.
Nominate 10 other blogs that you admire and enjoy.
Notify the nominees.
Display the award logo on your blog.
So, here goes, with 7 random things about me
I don’t like mushrooms. I never have. I don’t like their taste, their texture or their smell. You will never see me post a recipe with mushrooms in it…if there were mushrooms in the original recipe, I will have taken them out. I will pick mushrooms off of pizza, out of salads, and out of airplane meals (why are there always mushrooms in airplane meals?!?! why?!?!?). It’s a forever thing. I’m not going to change my mind about mushrooms
I would love a border collie. DS wants a german shepherd. We don’t own a house, so it’s still not an issue. But it may be one day, and we may end up with something completely different, or a breed of the two…or both!!
The first movie I watched at the cinema was “Curly Sue”and the first band I saw in concert were “The Beach Boys” when they toured with John Stamos as the drummer…..swoon!
I’m an early bird….early to bed, early to rise. I always have been and as I haven’t improved my sleeping-in habits by now, assume I always will be
When I was younger, I used to get up at 6 am and watch The Flintstones before every one else got out of bed.
I don’t like shopping for clothes, but I do like shopping for food. I know, how odd!
I used to collect postcards. They used to be the souvenir I bought from every place I visited (you know, like some people collect spoons). I don’t do that anymore. I guess I take enough photos of my own, that I don’t feel the need…and as I started moving around so much, storage became an issue!
When I was young, I wanted to be a flight attendant. What did you want to be?
My nominees for the Kreativ Blogger award are…
There are some wonderful blogs out there and some very creative and lovely people that I’ve come to know, but here’s who I’m nominating today.
Saskia at One equals Two
Anouka at Luxessed
Daisy at Never too sweet for me
Judy at petit4chocolatier
John at Kitchen Riffs
Barb at Profiteroles and Ponytails
Olivia at Where’s Wiwi?
I read these blogs regularly, they are all fabulous. Go and check them out

Ali, congratulations!! You are inspiring, positive, spirited, kind, and creative. You deserve many awards!
Thank you for the nomination. I really appreciate it
t is amazing how many of us like and don’t like the same things. I liked mushrooms at one time. I love many recipes that include them. But I don’t eat them. It happened over the past several years, I stopped liking their taste. I love dogs and had my last 2 for 15 years. They both passed away a couple of years ago from age and illness. One was a Pomeranian and one was a German Shepherd. I wanted to be an flight attendant years ago. My wish came true. I moved away from my home for 6 months and trained within the airline while finding a couple of other jobs to pay the bills. Wasn’t much money being an flight attendant at that time. I didn’t like it at all and was homesick. So I didn’t remain doing it and moved back to New York. Years later the airline went under!!
Thank you again for your kindness
Thanks Judy x I’m pretty glad in the end that I didn’t follow through with my flight attendant dream…I, too, get so homesick. Am still in the travel industry though!
Congratulations on your award Ali! You have a fantantastic blog that I love reading.
Thankyou very much!!
Congratulations Ali. Loved reading your random info – impressed you’ve seen the Beach Boys! Thanks so much for the award! Going to check out your other nominees now…
Thanks Saskia
The Beach Boys were great! Many moons ago now, though!
Congrats on the award! So very well deserved. And thanks for your kindness in bestowing the award on me – I really appreciate it. I’m with you on disliking clothing shopping but enjoying food shopping. And I think that’s totally normal! Thanks again.
You’re welcome, I love reading your blog
Food shopping is great!
Thanks for the shout out! Glad I got to give you your first award!!!
Love the random things about you…I love mushrooms!! ha ha I didn’t use to though
Thankyou again, Lilly Sue! My sister and Dad were mushroom lovers but mum and I couldn’t stand them!
Oh my, points 1, 5 & 6 could be me! Yay for a fellow mushroom hater
(Also, I wanted to be a travel reporter when I grew up). Congrats on your first award and thanks for the referral across to so many other great looking blogs, I will be checking them out thoroughly over the holidays … right at the moment I should be focusing on finishing off my work
Thanks! Amazing how many people don’t like mushrooms! Enjoy your break!
Congratulations, Ali !!!
Fae,
Thank you Fae
We share the early to rise part…but I fall short on the early to bed part. A well deserved award for you — I always enjoy your posts. Thanks for the award nod — I really appreciate it. This week has been non-stop cookie action but I am coming up for air now. Just in time for Christmas! Wishing you a wonderful holiday Ali!
You’re welcome…I love reading your blog! Enjoy your Christmas and break x
Congratulations on your award and thanks so much for passing it my way!! I had to laugh about the mushrooms – I’m right there with you! Fungus and mould have no business in food.
You’re welcome! I look forward to your posts! I see no need for mushrooms to be in so many meals….hardly anyone likes it!!!
I wish I was an early bird!
Thank you for nominating me. Have a great weekend.
