A year ago today…

I started writing this little blog here!
After re-reading my first post, all I can say is Wow! a lot has changed this year!! You can read that short first post here ;)
I really was apprehensively testing the waters, hey?
I think it is pretty safe to say that this is no longer a travel blog, as I started it out to be while we were living in North America and Canada. ‘A few stories’ has had many changes and I have trouble putting it in a “category” now, but it has remained one thing throughout the whole year, and that is constant. It helped me maintain some focus and creativity during a rough year; it became a place for me to document my cooking and photography challenges and a place for me to go to escape the humdrum of daily life. It has always been that.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed writing my blog this year, and I think the post I wrote last week summed up pretty neatly why.
Here’s some of my favourite posts for the past year:
Bourbon Street, New Orleans

Bourbon Street, New Orleans…where all the fun happens!

This post was the reason I started blogging. New Orleans is such a fantastic city, so full of life and culture, and  sooooo much fun. Our quick visit there made me want to share more than photos. If you haven’t been to New Orleans, do so. Put it on your list!!
Stanley Park, Vancouver

Stanley Park, Vancouver

This post was a bit of fun while I was holed up in Vancouver waiting for my flight back to Australia last Christmas. I enjoyed my walk around Stanley Park, taking photos, seeing the sights, exploring a part of Vancouver I hadn’t explored before. Vancouver is another city that I would recommend you put on your list!

A fun post I wrote after a friend from interstate visited, and by pure coincidence (I swear it wasn’t planned!) we ended up using the Entertainment Book (a book full of restaurant and entertainment coupons) for nearly every meal we ate!

During Mental Health Week in Australia this year, I wrote a series of posts about my experiences with mental illness and how important it is to look after one’s mental health. This post summed up a pretty big week for me. I was amazed by the support and comments I received…all positive. And, I’m happy to say, I’m getting better every day :)
Thank you everyone for reading my blog, for all of your comments, emails and texts. I truly appreciate it and it’s helped keep me blogging!
** I really hope all of these links and photos come through….seem to be having a few slight technical issues tonight!!

  5. Congratulations on the one year of blogging, once you make it through this, you will keep going. I have changed where I have headed with my blog several times over the past 5 years, so you never know if you may go back to doing more travel posts. I always keep mine in, though these days I only write about food and gardening. Look forward to another year of stories. Hugs.
